Mixed media on canvas.
This piece was a part of the polyptych that my three friends and I did together as a college assignment.
We didn’t have a title but our themes are a mix of these:
I got the Hindu God: Brahma (which explains why my painting has two heads visible – the other two are hidden behind the visible ones – and four hands.)
and the Deadly Sin: Lust (which explains the suggestive facial expression and the “come hither” finger. The chocolate bar and the wine are two things that are usually linked with love and romance, so I included those.)
I have to be honest. I am not very skilled with Adobe Illustrator compared to Adobe Photoshop. I can’t even say I am an expert with Adobe Photoshop; but I can do well enough to execute my ideas.
I’ve used Adobe Illustrator only twice before. We were taught basic stuff back in college and I was sitting in the back of the class because of the sitting arrangement. I think we only spent as short as two days on it and I didn’t use it a lot so I couldn’t retain the knowledge long enough to make it useful.
And so I am relearning because lack of practice I feel makes the knowledge fade away.
A lot of potential clients want things made in vector so I really have to get with the program. haha.
Here’s the thing that I did.
I traced it from a crappy thing I made in college.
I’m making another one but I traced it from a watercolor sketch I thought would look better if it’s done digitally. I have to finish learning before I could finish it, so I can make it faster.
Using Adobe Illustrator.
I mentioned in my last post that I was working on the portraits project that I promised to do two years ago. I just uploaded them in my portfolio page in this blog on March 6. Somehow I just don’t like how you can’t rearrange your portfolio projects unless you change the date you published it. -_- I guess I’m gonna edit the date, then.
I started working on them in June 27, 2014.
I practiced drawing their faces to figure out how to get them right. Some faces aren’t as easy to make.
I haven’t posted here for a while now.
I’ve been busy working until a week before Christmas and now I have some time for myself to get back to drawing etc.
I was busy working as an assistant animator – specifically doing cleanups and in-betweens. It was a lot of work and I am still adjusting. I can say that I still can’t draw that fast.
It’s weird because I should be used to drawing a lot because of that experience. I guess we used polyline tools so much that my hand isn’t as accustomed to just plain drawing anymore.
So, I figured I should use this free time (sort of) to just draw and draw and draw. And then update my portfolio sites.
I have received invites to these art communities/portfolio sites:
. . . and Nabaroo.
It felt nice. I’m thankful to get emails inviting me to try new art sites. 🙂
