New Year, 2015: Don’t Drink Alcohol

Daycraft Signature Sketchbook A5, Drawings

The doctor said I shouldn’t drink alcohol while my wisdom tooth extraction site heals. 😦

I wanted to drink champagne.

This one I drew last night, in the last minutes of 2014.

Finished on 2015.

And so I drew the available liquors on the table. The champagne cork won’t fit anymore so we fitted a small plastic bag over it. . . until one of the wines was finished. We used the wine cork.

I can’t get my scanner driver to work today. I was supposed to scan and color this digitally. Right now this crappy photo will have to do.

Have a happy new year, everyone!

May this year be filled with lots of opportunities and pleasant surprises!

I hope every year gets better and better.

More blessings to come! πŸ˜€

Throwback Thursdays #12

Big Thick Black Sketchbook, Throwback Thursdays

When I was addicted to anime.

The outfit is designed by me and that is an imaginary character.

This is the time when the Korean TV Series “My Girl” was showing on ABS-CBN.

It was inspired (didn’t copy the vest but I had an idea from it) by the cute vest that the lead character was wearing in the first episode of the show (I can’t find an image that shows that).

This is a very very very late post. . . about that time that my friend and I had an “Art Day” that happened last June 2.

My friend and I went to this cool branch of Prosperitea.

(still part of my “late posts”)

I drew these last May 25. At my brother’s soccer game. Of course, I drew these before the soccer game —because I had to watch the game.

I try to draw my subjects as fast as I can because every time I draw, I never let people know what I’m drawing. I’m challenging myself to capture things as fast and as accurate as possible. I obviously need to work on it harder.

It was last May 24. (this is one of my so-called “late posts”) I got up early in the morning because I wanted to join the Urban Sketchers Philippines sketchwalk event to celebrate their third anniversary.

It was a nice summer day, I took a long walk around Makati until I reached the venue, which was at Jaime Velasquez park, the same place of the Salcedo Saturday Market.

I went there alone, because I wanted to get to know people of the same interests. The way to find out who the sketchers were was to just simply take out your sketch materials and sketch. Soon enough I met a new friend and the organizers of the event found us.

I have never felt more relaxed. It’s a nice day and we were free to choose what we want to sketch. The aim of the group was ”Β to share a glimpse of the beauty (and not) of our cities or otherwise about life through our sketchbooks.” I don’t normally draw city structures and other objects. I usually draw people. I have to practice drawing different subjects.

This is my favorite part (also taken from their Facebook group “about” page):

“It has less to do with skill level or technique. What is more important is experiencing the process of looking, seeing, feeling and recording on paper.”

I just joined their Facebook page a week before and was really excited to go, even if I don’t know anyone there.

I made two sketches. One was a group of people sitting on a bench in front of me. Another was a of fire tree petal I saw fallen on another bench.

these are the group of people sitting in the bench in front of me, they don’t move much for hours so it’s alright. I was in a hurry to finish, though, because the sun was scorching on my arm

I used watercolor, unfortunately, I guess the paper was made for dry media so it easily wrinkled up. Also, the color absorbs too quickly that you can’t undo a mistake.
